John Galliano Net Worth - Pulptastic

What is John Galliano’s Net Worth and Salary?
John Galliano is a British-Gibraltarian fashion designer with a net worth of $20 million. He has served as the head of French fashion companies Givenchy and Christian Dior, in addition to running his own label.
Early Life and Education
John Galliano was born in Gibraltar in 1960 to Juan Galliano, a plumber, and Anita Guillen, who was from Spain. He grew up in Gibraltar with his two sisters before the family moved to England to find work. They were strict Roman Catholics and Galliano attended St. Anthony’s School and Wilson’s Grammar School in London. He then went on to study at Saint Martin’s School of Art and graduated in 1984 with a first class honours degree in Fashion Design.
First Collection
Galliano’s first collection was called “Les Incroyables” and was inspired by the French Revolution. The collection received positive reviews and was bought for resale by the prominent fashion boutique Browns.
John Galliano’s Fashion Career
John Galliano started his own fashion label with collaborators Amanda Harlech and Stephen Jones, but struggled financially and went bankrupt in 1990. He moved to Paris to secure more steady financial backing and was able to put on his first show in 1989 as part of Paris Fashion Week. In 1993, his agreement with his financial backer ended and he missed the fashion season. However, he was introduced to Portuguese socialite Sao Schlumberger and other financial backers who helped him secure a new partnership. In 1995, Galliano became the designer of Givenchy by Bernard Arnault and presented his first couture show with them in 1996. Later that year, he moved to Christian Dior where he remained for over a decade and received high praise for his Haute Couture and ready-to-wear collections.
Controversy and Career Setback
In 2011, John Galliano’s time with Dior came to an end after videos surfaced of him engaging in anti-Semitic speech while in a drunken state at a Parisian bar. Galliano denied the allegations, but faced trial and was found guilty of making these remarks. He was sentenced to pay 6,000 euros, and the controversy had an obvious effect on his career, including his forced separation from Dior and mixed opinions from the fashion community.
However, in 2013, Galliano accepted an invitation from Oscar de la Renta to have a temporary spot in their design studio, allowing him to prepare for his 2013 showing of his ready-to-wear collection at New York Fashion Week.
John Galliano’s Career Achievements
John Galliano has been named the British Designer of the Year four times, has been declared the Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2001 for his services to the fashion industry, and was named to the French Legion of Honour in 2009.
However, the latter award was rescinded by French President Francois Hollande following the anti-Semitic controversy.
Relationships and Personal Life
John Galliano’s “soulmate” and “the love of his life” was British designer John Flett, who died at the age of 27 in 1991 from a heart attack while working in Florence. Galliano later began a long-time relationship with Alexis Roche, a style consultant, and the two have a residence together in Paris. He is also a vegetarian for health reasons.
